We are welcoming a new member of staff, Sarah Brooks, to the Lexden team for the next academic year.  Mrs Brooks will be working in our Year 1 class.

I’m pleased to inform you that Miss Gildea and Mrs Jervis will continue to be a big part of school life and will be working with key children/groups over the coming academic year.

More detailed information about the class structure including support staff is available under the transition tab on the school website.  There you will find a presentation by the class teachers and details of how you can contact them with any questions.

In light of current events, the Governing Body has agreed my request to relocate our November INSET day to the start of September.  The result of this is that the children will not be returning to school until Friday 4th September.  This decision will allow us to respond to any last minute guidance from the Local Authority or the Department of Education in relation to COVID19.

I would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that, after being approached by the Local Authority, the Governing Body and I have agreed to a request to support Gosbecks Primary School, until they are able to appoint a headteacher, during the autumn term.

As I am sure you all appreciate, recruitment in schools has been very challenging over the last few months, and has meant schools have been unable to see how candidates interact with existing staff, as well as the children. Elements that are paramount when interviewing and recruiting a new headteacher.

This is an excellent opportunity for both myself and our school and will hopefully lead to an even closer relationship between Lexden Primary School and Gosbecks Primary School in the future.

I can assure you all that I will continue to drive improvement and maintain high standards at Lexden, as well as being an active presence around our school.

While at Gosbecks, I have the utmost faith in both Mrs Emson-Sewell and Miss Puttick to deputise in my absence.
