Our Latest Ofsted Report is available to read on the website

The school has maintained its good judgment and there are a great many elements of school life that we can be proud of:

Staff were praised for their “dedication and unswerving resolve to ensure that pupils at Lexden Primary School make the best possible progress.”  It was also noted that we have, “ensured that the care and highly inclusive approach that were highlighted in the previous Ofsted inspection have remained a strength of the school.”

Pupils were noted to have a positive attitude to their learning and that the relationship they have with staff is “positive, encouraging and highly conducive to learning.”

The key lines of enquiry were to:

  • Establish how well pupils achieve in reading;
  • Consider the progress that disadvantaged pupils make;
  • Consider the provision in Early Years;

Findings highlight that the school has a “clear rationale for, and place a high priority on, the teaching of reading” and “The effect of [the] new approach is accelerating the progress of most pupils.”  We now need to further embed our approach towards the teaching of reading to ensure that even more pupils reach the higher standard in reading by the end of Year 6.

The new process in place to improve progress for disadvantaged children was seen to be firmly in place and it was identified that we are now “working closely with parents so that [we] can more precisely improve the progress that [the] children make.”

In Early Years it was noted that, “Children are happy and start school life well” and “children’s books show they are making progress and developing their literacy and numeracy skills.”  We now need to ensure that adults use their assessment information in Early Years with even greater precision so that more children achieve a good level of development.

One parent is quoted as saying, “The school has a warm, welcoming feel from the office staff, teaching staff, Headteacher and children alike.  It promotes a feeling of pride and community.”

I am proud of what we have achieved: Proud of our staff and children.  We are one step closer to making our school outstanding.

Thank you to all for your continued support.
