Year 6 transition information
The application period for admission to Year 7 in secondary schools for September 2024 opened on 12 September 2023.
From this date, parents/carers of current Year 6 Essex resident children will be able to make their applications using our website www.essex.gov.uk/admissions. Last year, 99% of Essex parents applied online.
As usual, the Council will not be sending out letters to parents/carers about applying. All of the application information is published on the website above.
Parents/carers the need to apply for a secondary school place by the closing date of 31 October 2023.

Philip Morant is a community where everyone feels they belong and are the best that they can be. We warmly welcome you to our Open Evening on Thursday 24th September, 2023.
You and your child will be able to look around our wonderful school and see all we can offer, both in and out of the classroom. There are Headteacher talks at 4pm, 5pm and 6.30pm and you can book places here.
You can also visit the school on a normal school day by signing up for one of our Open Morning Tours. They take place during the mornings of Wednesday 27th September, Friday 29th September, Wednesday 4th October, Friday 6th October, Wednesday 11th October and Friday 13th October. Open Evening - Wednesday 27th September 2023 I look forward to welcoming you to our Open Evening on Wednesday 27th September 2023 from 6.00 pm - 8.30 pm. During the evening you will have the opportunity to meet students and teachers, visit departments and take part in exciting activities. I will give a talk during the evening. You are also very welcome to visit the college during a college day, giving you the opportunity to visit lessons. The Open Evening will take place on Thursday 28 September between 5pm and 8pm.
Headteacher's talks will be running at: 5:00pm, 5:45pm and 6:30pm.
Daily Headteacher tours will also be running from Monday 25th September to Thursday 28th September. You are asked to arrive at 9:00am (no prior booking is necessary).
