Welcome to Reception's class page...

We would like to offer you a warm welcome to Reception! The Reception team are looking forward to getting to know, and working in partnership with, you and your children across the year.

In Reception we believe that children learn best through play, exploration, and investigation. We value positive and high-quality relationships to best support your child’s learning and development within a creative, challenging, and warm environment. The children will have fun exploring their interests in both the inside and outside classrooms, as well as in our on-site wild-life area. Our planning, adult interactions, and the environment will be responsive to your child’s changing needs across the year to help give them the best start to school possible. We encourage the children to be responsible, respectful, and independent when learning through child-initiated activities and engaging with wider continuous provision. The children will also develop their love of learning in Reception through daily reading, phonics, and maths sessions.

We hope you enjoy looking through our class page – which will have pictures, resources and information uploaded across the year.

Some things you can support your child with before starting Reception:

Tapestry:

In Reception we use Tapestry as an assessment tool to support, monitor, and evidence your child's learning and development. Using your secure log on you will be able to view observations of what your child has been learning at school, comment and feed into this process, as well as upload observations of learning from home.

Please speak to Miss Buckley if you have any questions about Tapestry or are unable to access your log on.
